January 2019 NAM: Talk About it Tuesday Edition

The Neely Agency Mixer (NAM): Networking for a Cause Professional Mixer will be held at Withers Collection Museum and Gallery on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in conjunction with Withers Collection Talk About it Tuesday (TAIT). NAM and TAIT will take place back to back the last Tuesday of every month.

NAM is an exclusive networking event where you will find attendees networking with Memphis’ finest executives, entrepreneurs, public sector and entertainment industry professionals and enjoying great thought-provoking discussions. 

“Talk About It Tuesday” is a monthly panel discussion with Q & A designed to bring people from the local community together to inspire discussion about the significant impact of cultural history in movements for economic and social justice and other relevant topics that can have a positive impact on the community.

Douglass Cornerstone Hosts Annual Summer Camp For Douglass Community Youth

Summer is almost here and Douglass Cornerstone is preparing to take the youth in the Douglass community on an awesome adventure.

Douglass Cornerstone is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to serve the youth and families of the Douglass Community. The organization partners with Douglass Community Center, local churches, schools, agencies and other non-profit organizations to accomplish its mission of “fostering a commitment to youths and families to promote stability and reassert hope in the Douglass Community.”  Douglass Cornerstone provides the following for the youth of Douglas community in the City of Memphis:

• After-school mentoring activities
• Annual youth summer camp
• Monthly soup kitchen for the community
• Referral services to address other dire needs, (medical, housing, employment, counseling, etc.).

Douglass Cornerstone operates on private and corporate donations and grants and our wonderful volunteers and our services are limited without this support.

The board of the organization wants your generous donation as they prepare for their annual summer camp for the youth of the Douglass community. This year’s summer camp will be held at For the Kingdom, located at 4100 Raleigh Millington Rd in Memphis. Douglas Cornerstone would allocate your donated funds to the following:

• Accommodations for 6 Days and 5 nights
• Swimming
• Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

For the Kingdom provides a safe, fun, and challenging camping environment for discipleship, character building, and recreation for inner city young people in the Mid-South. More than other summer activities, a sleep away summer camp experience endows children with valuable life skills, provides positive adult role models, supports them with consistent encouragement, within the kind of well-rounded wholesome environment all too rarely found these days. These are lasting benefits that can make a difference in a child’s life as he or she becomes an adult.

In January, we hosted our inaugural Neely Agency Mixer: Networking For A Cause! The group included entrepreneurs, executives, and professionals represented in a variety of industries including healthcare, fitness, financial services, education, IT Management, entertainment and more. We enjoyed an awesome happy hour with beverage and food specials in an intimate setting with some of the best views…and people in the city! Our next Neely Agency Mixer will be Thursday, February 16, 2017, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m in Tower Center, 5100 Poplar Avenue, Suite 3300. After this event, we will be hosting our mixers on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. We look forward to seeing you there.

This month’s event will feature 501(c)3 nonprofit Clippers Up. Guns Down. The organization’s mission is to reduce recidivism by bringing awareness to opportunities for education in trades such as barbering that allows ex-offenders to thrive and become productive citizens in the community.
